Yahoo's Latest Attempt To Burnish Google's Image

Summary : Technology firm Yahoo has appointed leading Google executive Marissa Mayer as its next chief executive.

Ms Mayer is 37, will become the firm's third CEO within a span of a year.She said she was "honoured and delighted" to lead the company as declared in the statement released by Yahoo.Yahoo has struggled so far in the increased competition from search rivals including the web giants Google and the presence of social giants such as Facebook.

As per the yahoo statement Mayer said, "I am honored and delighted to lead Yahoo!, one of the internet's premier destinations for more than 700 million users. I look forward to working with the Company's dedicated employees to bring innovative products, content, and personalized experiences to users and advertisers all around the world."

Marissa Mayer was most recently Vice President of Local, Maps, and Location Services at Google where she oversaw product management, engineering, design and strategy for the company's suite of local and geographical products, including Google Maps, Google Earth, Zagat, Street View, and local search, for desktop and mobile. She also curated the Google Doodle program, celebrating special events on Google's homepage around the world.

Mayer comes with a Lots of experience under her as she is working with Google for so many years in search and consumer Web products which are also the Yahoo's key areas.We hope Mayer's huge experience can lift Yahoo to heights .
