Google Pays Tribute To Gideon Sundback With A Doodle

Google's latest doodle, A good looking and working zipper running down the centre of the search engine's homepage,Google pays tribute with a doodle on the birthday of Gideon Sundback, the Swedish-American electrical engineer most commonly associated with the development of the fastening device that revolutionized the clothing industry.

Gideon Sundback — the engineer who developed the zipper long way back. Sundback was born on this day 132 years ago,Sundback's breakthrough came in 1914, when he developed a zipper design based on interlocking teeth.Gideon was the first to perfect this concept of zipper .

Google chose a very appropriate day to pay tribute with a giant zipper running in center of its homepage vertically.Users can "unzip" the page by dragging their cursors from top to bottom which will lead to a page for the News for Gideon Sundback just as the screenshot below.

Sundback died of a heart condition in 1954 and was interred at Greendale cemetery in Meadville, Pennsylvania. In 2006, Gideon Sundback was honored by inclusion in the National Inventors Hall of Fame for his work on the development of the zipper.
